AKRON, OHIO — At Perantinides & Nolan, our dedication to the Northeast Ohio community extends far beyond the courtroom. We believe in standing up for those who need it most. That is why we are privileged and honored to announce a $125,000 matching gift to Pano’s Kick Childhood Cancer Fund at Akron Children’s Hospital.

With community participation, this matching initiative is expected to raise a total of $250,000 to support pediatric patients and their families as they courageously battle childhood cancer.
Honoring a Legacy of Care: Dr. Jeffrey Hord
This philanthropic commitment was officially announced during a retirement celebration honoring Dr. Jeffrey Hord, the retiring Chair and Director of the Hematology/Oncology Department at Akron Children’s Hospital (ACH).
For three decades, Dr. Hord has provided extraordinary leadership, visionary care, and an unwavering commitment to children facing their toughest medical battles. His 30 years of service have transformed the landscape of pediatric oncology in Akron, bringing hope and healing to countless families. This matching gift serves to honor his incredible legacy and ensure that his mission of comprehensive, compassionate care continues to thrive.
Bridging the Gap: Academic and Ancillary Support for Student-Patients
Consistent with the Perantinides & Nolan mission of equity and advocacy for those who otherwise would not have a voice, this gift is designed to address a critical, often-overlooked area of pediatric cancer care.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the financial and emotional toll on the family is staggering. While medical treatments are the primary focus, the purpose of our matching gift is to raise awareness of—and directly fund—the academic and other ancillary needs that student-patients require.
These essential needs are often not covered by medical insurance or included in the hospital’s budget. Our donation will directly support children and their families undergoing treatment at ACH’s Showers Family Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders by funding:
-
Educational Support: Ensuring children do not fall behind academically while undergoing extended treatments.
-
Ancillary Family Needs: Alleviating the hidden financial burdens placed on families navigating a pediatric cancer diagnosis.
-
Quality of Life Initiatives: Providing resources that bring comfort and normalcy to children during their hospital stays.
Double Your Impact: How You Can Help
We are calling on our friends, colleagues, and community members across Northeast Ohio to help us reach our $250,000 goal. Because this is a matching gift, every dollar you donate will be doubled by Perantinides & Nolan, maximizing your impact on local families.
